09-07-2024
.PT and the Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP) signed a cooperation protocol for the development of national cybersecurity, prevention and combating cybercrime capabilities. The agreement provides for the exchange of knowledge and the mutual deepening of the capabilities of both institutions in this crucial area.

This protocol will allow .PT and PSP to collaborate on several fronts, from strategic development in the fight against cybercrime to the training and qualification of human resources, including the creation of specific tools to support investigation and joint operations.

"In carrying out its mission, PSP needs to train its human resources with the latest techniques and tools that allow it to operate in cyberspace and combat cybercrime", states Superintendent Pedro Gouveia, Deputy National Director of the PSP. "Knowledge of defense and investigation techniques in cyberspace is dynamic and often difficult to obtain in good time. This partnership with .PT will allow access to specialized knowledge and crucial tools for the effective performance of our functions in the fight against cybercrime ."

.PT is responsible for registering, managing and maintaining the registration of domains under the top-level domain corresponding to Portugal, .pt, playing a decisive role in the security, resilience and trust of online use and presence.

"We live in times when the security of the digital world is as crucial as that of the physical world. Protecting Portuguese citizens and companies in cyberspace is a responsibility that .PT takes with great seriousness. We believe that synergy and the exchange of expertise between .PT and PSP, through this protocol, will be a fundamental step in building a safer digital future for everyone.", highlights Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of the .PT Board of Directors.

The protocol arises within the scope of the .PT strategy, which foresees the development of partnerships with nationally recognized entities, such as PSP, which incorporate skills capable of contributing to the secure, innovative and resilient growth of the national ccTLD.

The signing took place today, July 9th, at 9:30 am, at the National Directorate of the Public Security Police.
