Milestone in Portugal: 2 million domains registered under .pt

Today we celebrate 2 million ideas, 2 million voices, 2 million stories told in .pt!

The internet in Portugal has just reached a historic milestone: 2 million domains registered under .pt. This number reflects the dynamism of the internet in Portugal and the growing choice of .pt domains by companies, organizations and individuals. .PT, the entity responsible for managing the Portuguese top-level domain, also reveals that the domain that marked this historic milestone is bossatavira.pt. 

Following the milestone of 1 million domains in 2018, .PT has continued its growth, driven by the confidence in the Portuguese top-level domain, the digitalization of the economy, the rise of e-commerce and the growing importance of online presence for companies of all sizes. It should be noted that last month was the best May in terms of .pt registrations since the DNS.PT Association was set up in 2013. 

"Reaching 2 million .pt domains is a testament to the ongoing work of .PT and its partners to promote the internet in Portugal,” says Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of the .PT Board of Directors. "This milestone demonstrates the vitality of our digital economy and the importance of .pt as an online meeting point, where innovation and economic growth come together with the guarantee of an increasingly secure and trustworthy online environment.” 

.PT has played a fundamental role in boosting the internet in Portugal, by supporting projects and initiatives that promote digital literacy and cybersecurity, collaborating with public and private entities to boost digital empowerment in Portugal, and carrying out awareness campaigns to highlight the advantages of the .pt domain for companies and individuals.
