The first Portuguese edition of re_B00TCMP, an event dedicated to raising awareness among young people aged between 15 and 18 about the opportunities, challenges and risks of the digital world, took place last Saturday, the 26th, at Escola 42 Lisboa.

Promoted by the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP), Polícia Judiciária (PJ), .PT and Cybers3c, the event was attended by more than 80 young people and their parents and teachers. Throughout the day, young people identified academic and professional paths in information and communication technologies (ICT) with the support of inspiring professionals from the fields of cybersecurity, the police, the video games industry and the Europol.

Through debates, games, training sessions, challenges and other activities, participants had the opportunity to deepen their digital skills and learn good cybersecurity practices. The day ended with a hacking competition, which challenged young people to solve complex computer security problems in a positive and competitive spirit.

Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of .PT, highlights the importance of collaboration between public and private entities and civil society in promoting online safety: "re_B00TCMP is a concrete example of this synergy, bringing together different stakeholders for a common goal: empowering young people, their parents and teachers. .PT would like to thank all the partners who made it possible to bring this initiative to Portugal and give participants this opportunity to test their skills in the digital world.”

This first edition of re_B00TCMP in Portugal was promoted by PSP, PJ, .PT and Cybers3c, with 42 Lisboa, CDI Portugal and Start Up Lisboa as partners, and Axians and Cisco as sponsors. The re_B00TCMP initiative is an international project, supported by the InterCOP network, started by the Netherlands, replicated by Australia and now by Portugal. Europol, whose mission is "to support its Member States in preventing and combating all serious forms of international and organized crime, cybercrime and terrorism”, supports the InterCOP network and initiatives dedicated to cybercrime prevention, such as re_B00TCMP. With the organization of this re_B00TCMP, Portugal, co-founder of the InterCOP network, becomes the third country in the world to implement this pioneering initiative and consolidates its commitment to building a more secure and resilient cyberspace.
