Today I realized that I reached 20 years of being .PT
Almost without realizing it, I spent 20 years of working in .PT. A trip that began on November 2, 2000, when November was written in capital letters (in Portuguese), smartphones did not exist (even mobile phones were a novelty), domain registration was done with forms sent on paper and the data entered manually, the site was informative and can be seen in the Portuguese Web archive here, and we reached 18,988 domains under .pt at the end of this year.

When I embarked on the trip, it had already started and many people before thought, worked, made many conquests for the top-level domain of Portugal. I thank you all without exception. Thank you for wanting me on this trip, which we continued together. Those who continue, those who went to look for new challenges, those who joined, those who believed in the dream of being .PT and getting where we have been, and continue to always want to do more and better.

Today I received the congratulations and messages that moved me. I missed those times, curse the COVID that came to shuffle our lives and remove us from the essential coexistence these days. But I also felt an enormous pride in being part of everything we built together and I thought that 20 years is a long time, but it's not that long… it was a breath, as life is a breath.

I learned so much from all the people, situations, challenges that have arisen over the years. And as it is evident on the wall of our space, and was taught to us by Albert Einstein, "The mind that opens up to a new idea never returns to its original size ".

It is time to look ahead and not back, as the challenges and the journey have just begun. We are even more .PT and we have a lot to do in this Internet community of which we are a part, and which is growing. Even in that we have a role, not leaving anyone behind.

Please note: the articles on this blog may not convey the opinion of .PT, but of its author.
