The keys to our digital home
The security of our passwords starts right from the moment they were created. When we set our passwords, we must think that they are the key to our digital home and, just as we take special care to keep the key to our "physical” home safe, in the digital world we must also take the same precautions.
5 fundamental tips for creating and managing your passwords in a stronger and more resilient way:
• As long as possible: an example is the use of a phrase that is easy to memorize.
• Use of varied characters: add complexity to the password using numbers, upper and lower case letters and even special characters.
• Do not include personal information: dates of birth, parts of the name and surname, address or taxpayer numbers should not be part of our password.
• Multiple factors: use, whenever possible, multi-factor authentication. It will substantially increase your security and, in the end, prevent someone from entering in your digital home.
• Password Management Software: it is difficult to memorize so many passwords, for so many services that we subscribe to. We recommend using password management software that will allow you to securely store all your passwords and prevent them from being forgotten. An example of a password management software is KeePass.
Today the question that arises is not "if" but "when" we will be attacked. That is why it is important to be alert to the dangers of the cyberspace. The human factor remains the weakest link in the chain of a cyber attack, whether through Phishing emails from your bank or when buying and selling products on e-commerce platforms.
