“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
This new pandemic context was a great accelerator of the digital transformation of organizations, which boosted the online presence of countless businesses, projects and ideas, creating new opportunities and allowing many to keep their activity.
Quickly, most of us have had to adapt to this new reality and work from home. Videoconference meetings have become our day-to-day activities, such as the walks at the end of the day, to relax from a whole day between four walls.
We were all united in the mission to avoid the social contagion of this new virus, however, everyone was away and isolated in their homes. At home, in a family environment, we often feel a false sense of security, which quickly began to be more exploited by malicious agents.
People, their computers and organizations' networks were not fully prepared for this new reality. Many organizations, entrepreneurs and new users still had a shy experience in the online and started to understand the enormous potential of the online presence, however without knowing its risks and threats.
It is never too much to remember (and I am a natural believer in security) the importance of organizations being aware of the risks of the digital space and having the most secure means available to their employees, namely:
•Ensuring a secure channel for employees to use the organization's applications, one of the most used methods is the implementation of a VPN.
•Encourage employees to update their devices with the latest security updates, and, if possible, with automatic updates.
• Encouraging employees to be cautious about the emails and attachments they receive, this is the gateway to most malware.
• Better preparation for situations such as the one we are experiencing, through the development of a contingency plan. Always remember that "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" (Benjamin Franklin).
• Encourage and preserve the mental health of employees, especially when we are all isolated at home. Creating groups and joint activities among employees. Stress reduction prevents decisions that affect the organization.
Prevention is better than cure!
